The Sower Sows the Word Series Part 1 “The Wayside Seed”

The Sower Sows the Word Series Part 1 “The Wayside Seed"

parable of sower 2

“Where lives change and where life can begin again”

The greatest parable of all is the “Parable of the Sower”. It explains life’s journey’s so well. It

breaks it down in such simple language. The struggle and the work that is necessary

for success.

Let’s look at the parable:

Mark 4:3-9 (NJKV)…3 “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And it happened, as he

sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds of the air came and devoured it. 5

Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up

because it had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it

had no root it withered away. 7 And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up

and choked it, and it yielded no crop. 8 But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop

that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirty-fold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”

9 And He said to them, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

I’m a teacher, so we will break down the Word in small pieces so that we can better digest

the Word and receive it much better and it will be retained much longer. Is that ok? I hear a

resounding, “Let’s do it Pastor Lynette!”

We will be dealing with Mark 4:3-4 today, the Wayside Seed.

Mark 4:3-4

“Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow, and it happened, as he sowed that some seed fell

by the wayside; and the birds of the air came and devoured it.”

As we know later in the chapter, Jesus explains to the disciples the meaning of the parable

for each type of seed sown. Let’s look at the Wayside Seed.

Mark 4:14-15

14 The sower sows the word. 15 And these are the ones by the wayside where the word

is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown

in their hearts.

The one thing that I want you to see is the first word that is spoken in verse 3, LISTEN!

The Word of God is not just written on a page it is the Spoken Word from God. God used men

to write down what He has spoken to us. Just like a letter written to your friends. It doesn’t

make it any less you just because it is written on a piece of paper. The letter is just as much

you as it is you standing there speaking it yourself. The beauty of God is that His Word never

gets outdated or irrelevant, but it is a fresh word each day for us, even if it is the same word

we read yesterday. God always has something new to say, if we’re listening.

The wayside seed, is the seed that gets away from us and Satan comes immediately to

steal it before we realize that all we must do is pick it up and put it back in our heart. He

steals with lies that we don’t need all that. We don’t need to do all that reading or meditating,

or study.

Listen and hear the voice of God and pick that Word back up and let it soothe your soul

and bring you to that point of victory in every area of your life. The last thing that Satan

wants is for you to have victory, but God has ordained it in His Word. He has already spoken

it over you.

1 Corinthians 15:57 (NKJV)

57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Never forget you have the victory through the living word, Christ Jesus. Your victory is already

done, our fight is in our faith. Faith comes by hearing the Word. Don’t let the Word stay on the

Wayside, snatch it right back out of Satan’s possession and let it work in your life. Apply it,

dwell on it, use it as healing, prosperity and a two- edged sword in every situation. In the

Word, there is a solution for everything you need. Seek and you will find! Protect the Word in

your heart with all diligence, for out of that word in your heart flows the issues of life. It will

fight many battles for you and, it will be your victory every time.
