The Sower Sows the Word Series Part 2 “On Stony Ground"
“Where lives change and where life can begin again”
We are back again to discuss the second part of our series on
“The Sower Sows the Word”.
Learning the truths of the importance of the Word of God and protecting it in your life is one
of the most important lessons that we learn as Christians and disciples of Christ. Our quest
in life should be to increase in our learning and knowledge of God and our purpose in the
world. It’s all in the Book! Satan knows it is all in those 66 books of life. Wars and disputes
and divisions and hatred have been caused by the importance of this Book. Lives are saved,
mountains are moved, bodies are healed, and minds are transformed, and knowledge and
wisdom are achieved by the receiving of this Book. So, when the Word is sown, all the forces
of darkness come against it to stop the power that comes and infuses light and revelation
and power. That’s why we fight the good fight of faith to lay hold of the promises of God and
fight until we see the victory.
Let’s get into the Word!
Mark 4:5-6 (NKJV)
5 Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up
because it had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it
had no root it withered away.
Jesus explains: Mark 4:16-17
16 These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word,
immediately receive it with gladness; 17 and they have no root in themselves, and so endure
only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake,
immediately they stumble.
You’ll notice that these people are listening, because they immediately receive it with
gladness. It excited them and brought them great peace and joy. How many Christians are
like that today? I dare say much more than half. It goes on to say, however, they had no root
in themselves. “Surface Word” a word that has only gone to the outer part of your heart, does
not develop much in your life. You will find in most hurricanes, the trees that are not totally
ripped from the ground are those that have roots that run deep in the ground. The storms of
life are like those hurricanes, our Word level must run deep within our spirits to be totally
rooted and developed when the storms and hurricanes of life come.
Many times, we wonder, why is everything happening to me? It is for the Word’s sake. Satan
knows what will happen to your life when the Word is firmly rooted in your life. He can’t get to
you with those same problems anymore. The Word has rooted and developed too deeply
within your spirit and you know who you are in Christ Jesus and who your God is in your life.
This is the last thing Satan wants you to find out, especially if you believe and practice it in
Hints on how not to stumble and develop deep roots:
(If you haven’t figured it out yet, this is homework!)
Spend time in worship with God.
Worship time is love time. In those times you will learn who God is and learn to hear his voice
and find comfort in His presence. There will be intimate time getting to know one another.
Just like a best friend every day, you grow in love and trust.
Spend time in the Word everyday.
Even if it is one scripture. Learn and meditate on it every day. Tell someone else the scripture
and what it is doing for you. Telling someone else the scripture and where it is, will help you
to remember the scripture in your heart. Write it down and take it with you and say it many
times in the day. Then it will be deeply rooted in your spirit.
Tell someone else what God is doing in your life.
Your testimony reminds you of how faithful God is and where He has bought you from. How
quickly we forget when the storms come, but keeping your testimony fresh always reminds
us of the God we fell in love with.
Remind yourself daily of the good things God has done.
Write it down and remember. Journaling is an excellent way to keep God fresh in your
Guard your heart with all diligence. (Proverbs 4:23) The Word that is hidden in there is very
precious to others, but also for you. It will be your strength in the hardest times in your life.
It will be your joy when you feel all hope is gone. You will quickly realize; the devil is lying to
me again and I recognize his tactics. (2 Corinthians 2:11) The Word will then come bursting
forth from the fountains of your heart (John 7:38) and quench all the fiery darts of the
wicked one. And victory will spring forth like a river. Keep your eyes on what God has said
and not on the what the world is screaming at you each day. And if you feel a little spicy, take
a dance with God and send the devil on the run. Tell him “Get to steppin!” In Jesus name!
