The Potential in You Part 2 “Joy, it’s more than a feeling!”

The Potential in You Part 2
“Joy, it’s more than a feeling!”

“Where lives change and where life can begin again”

It’s that time again. A time of reflection and study of the Word and looking at our daily life

journey. It’s important to look at our lives and examine ourselves in the mirror of God’s

Word. Not to condemn, but to make us better and stronger and more determined to reflect

the image of Christ in all that we do.

That is why the Fruit of the Spirit is so vitally important. It gives us a guideline of what we

should strive for each day of our journey. Not striving in works, but in receiving the

characteristics of Jesus into our daily lives. Since they are already there on the inside of us,

let’s learn to allow them to develop in us each day.

Last week we looked at the Power of Love. It is by far the most powerful of the 9 attributes

of the “God-head.” Love is exactly who they are. And all the other attributes feed off of

love. So, developing a good, sound love-walk is highly important. It will bring success to

your life in every area when applied.

Let’s look at Joy…

Joy is defined in a common dictionary as being high spirited delight, jubilant, gleeful,

elated. An emotion of great happiness, delight, and pleasure. These are all natural, earthy

descriptions of joy. However, a God-centered joy is…an internal knowing that brings

confidence and peace that cannot be explained by the natural understanding…It is

a laughter that wells up in your soul even in the worst of situations.

True joy comes from God and God alone. Natural joy is fleeting and temporary and only

happens in the best situations. On the other hand, the joy that comes from God produces

confidence at all times, and in all circumstances. It may be something we have to locate in

times of pressure, but it is there, always, because of the God in us!

Where would our confidence be if it were not for the Word of God. It would be in ourselves,

which is highly temporary and weak at best.

James 1:2-4 (NKJV)…2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various

trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let

patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking

I am going to add a little of my own definition (revelation, paraphrase) to this scripture to

bring a stronger meaning to joy; I pray it helps you.

“My brethren, have an internal knowing that brings confidence and peace that

cannot be explained, but you know God is at work, when you fall into various

trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience… Have laughter on

your lips and an expectancy of God that only produces true joy in your heart,

knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its

perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete lacking nothing.”

Joy is a powerful part of the life of a believer. That is why Satan works so hard to steal it

away from our hearts. Joy is a weapon against “the enemy” that confounds and leads him

to pure frustration. It confuses him and causes him to run away scared and defeated. How

do you defeat Satan? Laugh! Laugh by faith as hard as you can, and rest assured God is

working on your behalf in your faith.

James 4:7 (BSB)…7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will

flee from you.

  • Submit to the God on the inside of you. Find the capacity within you to find the joy.

It’s in there so laugh anyway! Get into the Word and build your faith.

  • Resist the devil’s nagging voice in your ear, with the strongest belly laugh you can

muster up. Ha ha ha! Ha ha!

Soon the laughter will be real, and spirit felt, and a shining glow of God’s presence will be all

around you. All the angelic forces will come to your aid.

  • And then, suddenly all the devil’s sidemen and all his schemes will get out of your

presence quick, fast and in a hurry. Hee hee hee! I like to get Satan when he least

expects it. He doesn’t expect you to laugh when the pressure is on, but you do it

anyway. Find the joy inside of you.

How do I find the joy Pastor Lynette? By getting into the Word and feeding your faith. Write

and bring to remembrance the faithfulness of God and His love. Rehearse the testimonies of

God’s goodness. The joy will come flooding your soul and the pain will diminish and leave.

When you realize the power and potential on the inside of you, it can be so much fun

kicking the devil out of your life. Keep the joy flowing in your life. Let it run like “streams of

strength and power.” Stop and remember all of God’s greatness and His love for you and

the joy will come flooding through your thoughts and then into your heart and a smile will

come streaming over your face and fill your entire day with the power of God…

I pray this was helpful to you today, it helped me. (Smile) (Belly laugh) (ROTFLL…Rolling

On The Floor Laughing Loudly)

I told you, this can be so much fun!
