The Potential in You Part 5
“Where lives change and where life can begin again”
Kindness is a part of our make-up. It is in the heart of man not to turn a blind eye or a deaf
ear to the pain of humanity. It is ordained and given by God.
This kindness resides on the inside of us. If we were to pass a person stranded with a flat
tire on the side of the road, it is a first instinct to stop. Even miles down the road we think
and hope someone will stop and help them.
It is the compassion and kindness that God has placed on the inside of us, that compels us
to care and reach out to touch and heal.
Matthew 9:36 says,
“…But He was filled with compassion”. Jesus saw the hungry crowds and had compassion
on them and fed them. They were like sheep without a shepherd. Spiritual food is like natural
food, if not eaten, we will grow weak. A shepherd is there to feed, guide and protect and
Jesus looked on the crowd and knew they had no one to feed them naturally or spiritually.
So, in every way they were hungry and desirous of someone to feed them what they needed.
That day, He not only fed them naturally, but also spiritually.
Our kindness must go beyond the need to just fill people naturally. Natural food will fill our
stomachs for a little while, but we must love them enough to fill their souls with the true food
41 “Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, 42 saying, “If you had known, even
you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden
from your eyes. 43 For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an
embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, 44 and level you, and
your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another,
because you did not know the time of your visitation.””
Jesus knew the pain of God’s people because of their closed hearts to God’s voice and love.
Whenever we close ourselves away from the love and kindness of the Father, we open
ourselves up to the pain of this world. However, the compassion of Jesus never stopped
him from finishing his course. The kindness that was built on the inside of him gave him the
power to finish his assignment with joy. If we apply the same level of obedience and
determination, we will finish our assignment with joy as well.
2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before
Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the
throne of God.” Jesus is such a wonderful example of everything, but also of kindness. The
compassion for our souls and knowing the finished work of love, which was
imperative that He finish, would bring many men to salvation. This compelled Jesus, and
should compel us to reach out in kindness. We are the hands and feet and voice of God
working in the earth, through the power of kindness working in us.
What really changed my life was when I truly came face to face with God and knew He was
real. That everything about me was open before him and all I could be was real before him.
No sense in hiding, but laying it all in front of him and being real for the first time in my life. It
was “freeing”. It was the kindness of “my Father”.
After that, I allowed God to work in my life and move in my heart to become just like Jesus. I
wanted to be just like Jesus, I still do. Do I ever get it wrong? You better know I do. But I
never allow Satan to convince me that I can’t get up and start over again. The kindness of
God is so wide spread that it never ends. Never let your heart grow cold, but keep the warmth
of the love of kindness flowing from God in you.
Next time let’s stop to help the person on the side of the road, or the child in need or the
elderly person that can no longer do for themselves. How about that friend that called you 20
times just to talk about the pain in their life, and you avoided the call.
There is a power in you, never let it go out, but keep it flowing to others. It is what we are
called to do. Spread the love of kindness to others to bring healing and wholeness. The
power is in you. He placed it in all of us.
Kindness = Compassion = Action= Healing!
