Psalm 23 Part 10 – Dwelling in the House… Forever

Psalm 23 Part 10
Dwelling in the House… Forever

“Where lives change and where life can begin again”

Psalm 23:6b

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord

Forever.

My consistency in the church was not until I was almost 30 years old. I

never understood the importance of the House of God until I came to

services on a regular basis. I never realized how much I needed and

how much I didn’t know and needed to know until I was consistent in

the “House.” I was “hungry,” and I felt as if I was “starving,” and I was,

spiritually. My life was a mess, I was tired, frustrated, and mad at

everything. And someone invited our broken family to their church and

we began to be fed one “drop of milk” at a time. And we stayed and

were fed consistently because we made the decision to be consistent.

God is always talking, but we must open our hearts to hear Him.

1 Peter 2:2 (NKJV)

2 as newborn babes desire the pure milk of the word, that you may

grow thereby,

God will feed you wherever you are and give you the nutrition you need

to grow and become of full age to do what God has called you to do.

The House of God is designed to be a place of nutrition and growth for

the Body of Christ. It is a place to learn and receive the knowledge that

you need to win in every area of your life. To learn to walk in faith in

the Son of God and to learn to fight like a warrior who is skilled and

one who has mastered the art of warfare.

2 Timothy 2:3-5, Ephesians 6:11-12, 1 Timothy 6:12 (READ)

I have learned for almost 30 years that I must fight to keep my faith. I

must fight to keep my mind stayed on Christ. The pull of this world

is strong, but I have learned that I am stronger in Him. The only way

that I can be truly strong is in the Word of God and being around

people of God with the same faith to encourage one another. Jesus

must be the first thing that we do in the morning and the last thing we

do at night. We rise in Him and rest in Him. I must consistently remind

myself of what God has said and not what I hear in the world or what I

see all around me.

The “House” is a refuge from the “storm” and a “lighthouse” in the

night. It is a “strong tower” that no winds can destroy, and it is our

place of strength. God designed His House to be a place of prayer and

communication between God and His children. To give you the

instruction and guidance you need to succeed in every area of your life.

Ephesians 4:12-16 English Standard Version (ESV)

12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body

of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the

knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of

the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be

children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every

wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way

into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body,

joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when

each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds

itself up in love.

The “House” is where we grow up and become the men and women we

are called to be. We learn to stand, fight, praise, pray,

meditate, confess, love, and have faith in God in all

circumstances and situations. We learn that we have an enemy, but he

is not greater than we are, but the greater One abides on the inside of

us making us victorious in all that we put our hands to do in His name.

We will not fail unless we quit, because God is with us always.

“And I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever, to the end of my

days… Forever and for all Eternity!”

Find a house of God where you can grow and be encouraged by others

that are on the same journey of faith and find the strength you need to

win the battles you are fighting. You don’t have to fight alone!

Amen!

Psalm 23 Part 9 – Goodness And Mercy Are Following You All the Days of Your Life

Psalm 23 Part 9
Goodness and Mercy Are
Following You All the Days of Your Life

“Where lives change and where life can begin again”

Psalm 23:6a

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days of my life;

Have you ever felt completely alone in a room full of people? I have.

Where no one spoke to me or even knew my name, and also, I “felt”

they didn’t care. I believe all of us have felt that way at one time or

another. The key to all of this is our feelings. Satan is a master of

placing thoughts and suggestions before us to see if we will embrace

them and to see if we will take them into our hearts. This has been

around since the beginning of time. Let’s watch that story with Eve.

Genesis 3:1-5 (NKJV)

3 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which

the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed

said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees

of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the

garden, God has said, “You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest

you die.”

4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For

God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and

you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Satan doesn’t try too much new to this day. He plants thoughts and

suggestions to cause us to doubt and “feel” as if God was not quite

right and we need to try something different that will work better. He

plants a thought in our head, that we are just the way that daddy said,

“You will never amount to anything”, and I think to myself, “it must be

true.” “No one really likes me…” is a thought that runs through our

minds and we “feel” as if it’s true. We embrace the thought and live

with it in our lives, but, today is the day when we cast those negative

thoughts and feelings out of our lives and remember what God has

said.

Whenever we have negative thoughts about ourselves or others, always

remember what God has said. God said, “Surely, goodness and mercy

shall follow you all the days of your life.”

Let’s examine “Surely”.

Surely – firmly, steadily, confidently, assuredly, unhesitatingly,

unfalteringly, unswervingly, determinedly, doggedly, tenaciously

God is determined to follow you all the days of your life. He will not

give up… no matter the direction that you go, nor how deep the valley

is that you go into. He will be with you. It is a firm decision, without

hesitation, and He will not falter in His decision, but will unswervingly

and tenaciously follow you with love.

I love when God says, “all the days of your life”. That means, in the days

when I feel all alone and left by everyone, He is there! He follows close

behind me, watching me and protecting me all the days of my life. It

also lets me know, that from the moment of conception, He took His

place beside me and followed me even when I wanted nothing to do

with Him. He never judged me or condemned me, but He protected me

until I was in the place I could see Him and receive Him into my heart.

So, if you are reading this and you have not received Christ into your

heart, God is still there. He is firmly, assuredly, and tenaciously

following you and watching over you, until you see Him. See Him, with

your spiritual eyes wide open. It is just as easy as making a quality

decision to open your heart and say, “Yes God, I want to see you.”

Begin to read your bible and He will reveal himself to you each day. Ask

Him to show you more and more of Himself and He will. He has been

there all along.

We are almost at the end of our study of Psalm 23 and there is still so

much more that we could discuss.

I want you to leave this devotional today knowing that God is there with

you. In the midst of pressure, depression, hurt, pain, and

loneliness; God is there. Pick up your Bible today and begin to allow

God to talk to you and tell you good things to come and how really

amazing you are. In His eyes, He thinks you’re both wonderful and

beautiful. Does it really matter what anyone else thinks? Nope!

Remember what God is saying and it won’t matter what anyone else is

saying!

Psalm 23 Part 8 – He Anoints Our Head with Oil, and We Are Running Over

Psalm 23 Part 8
He Anoints Our Head with Oil,
and We Are Running Over

“Where lives change and where life can begin again”

The anointing is a special touch from God that gives us a special ability to do

the works of God. All priests were anointed by oil to bring them into the

ministry for the work of God.

Aaron

Psalm 133:2 (NIV)

It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard,

running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe.

Leviticus 8:10

10 Also Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and all

that was in it and consecrated them. 11 He sprinkled some of it on the altar

seven times, anointed the altar and all its utensils, and the laver and its

base, to consecrate them. 12 And he poured some of the anointing oil on

Aaron’s head and anointed him, to consecrate him.

Let’s define some special words for better understanding…

Anointing – is to consecrate, bless, ordain; hallow

Hallow – to honor as holy

Consecrate – to set apart for the use of God.

Ordain – to appoint, anoint, consecrate, install, invest, induct

Psalm 23

“You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.”

God anoints (consecrates, sets apart for His use), ordains and hallows (honors

as holy) our head with oil, and our cups runs over with the anointing of God

to do the service of the Kingdom.

I bet you didn’t know all that about yourself! We are heirs and joint-heirs

with Christ. (Romans 8:17)

1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)

9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own

special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out

of darkness into His marvelous light;

If you were to stop and meditate these scriptures and really get a true

spiritual view of yourself, you would see yourself totally different than who

Satan tries to tell you that you are.

God anoints our head with the oil of His Spirit and empowers us to be, and to

do the work of God in the earth. Therefore, the baptism of the Holy Spirit is

so vitally important.

Take some time to look up an heir and a priest this week. God calls you these

things, so find out what that means. God has a high opinion of you and it is

time we had high opinions of ourselves. Not in an arrogant way, but to the

glory of God. No more excuses; you have what it takes, with Christ on the

inside of you! So, before next week, take some time to look up heir and

priest and meditate on who you are in relation to these words. If you are

doing a bible study right now with this, stop and look up these words and talk

about what that means in relation to you.

Remember, our cup runs over with the anointing that God places in our lives.

Holy Spirit anoints us with the oil of His presence to minister, to see

spiritually the things we need to see and to do the things that we need to

do. He is our helper, guide and strength. We come to church and bible study

and other gatherings in the name of Jesus to be filled up and then “running

over” on everyone that we meet. This power runs over in our service to the

King and Lord of all. This anointing will balance some, encourage others, and

it will bring healing and freedom to all those you meet. It’s your job to run

over and their job to receive it. You just keep getting filled up!

Share Jesus with someone today! Let your cup run over!

Next week we will be talking about:

of Your Life”

Psalm 23 Part 7 – God Prepares A Table Before Us, With Our Enemies Watching

Psalm 23 Part 7
God Prepares a Table Before Us,
With Our Enemies Watching

“Where lives change and where life can begin again”

Psalm 23 tells the story of God’s love and His protective nature. He will

never allow a bully to come in and “run over” us and destroy what He

has made. He prepares a place for us, that we must make the decision

to walk into. We have the choice, but it takes faith. It takes faith to step

out onto roads we cannot see and trust that He will make them “visible”

as we step. It takes faith to step through life listening to His voice as we

look foolish to the world, knowing and standing on what God has told

us! It is a path that everyone cannot take, but He has chosen us for

such a time as this. “Will you trust me”, I always hear in my heart. “Yes,

Lord”, is what I always say.

Psalm 23:5a

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

Such a strong statement! For many years I did not know what that

meant or how to really translate that. As I began to meditate upon this

verse of scripture, He began to reveal to me what that looks like.

I saw a large table with all the blessings of God on it. All my blessings

that God intends for me. He set them out for me to see, but He also set

them out for all the demonic kingdom to see.

God has set a table for all of us, that is especially made for each one of

us. My blessings are not necessarily your blessings and yours are not

necessarily mine, but we all have blessings that God intends for each of

us to have. However, it is our job to obtain those blessings through the

active participation of the covenant we have with God. Through our

faith, our love, our forgiveness, or words and our attitude. Through all

these things we grow and mature and look more and more like Jesus.

Then we can handle the blessings of God and really be able to

distribute the way God intends. It becomes less about us and more

about Him.

Take a journey with me to a room. There is a table made of all your

dreams and desires and all the things that you will ever need and are

believing for. Your enemies are in the room. They want to stop those

blessings from ever reaching you. However, God has set the table. No

devil from the kingdom of darkness can stop you from reaching your

blessings. Even though they try, they know they cannot stop God or

you. The only way they stop you, is by convincing you that you can

never obtain your desires and you will always be without. Then, your

words change, your attitude changes, your faith changes and the very

things that are there to unlock your blessings are being used against

you. We are the only ones that can stop our blessings. Satan tries to

hold up our blessings long enough to get us to change our words, our

faith, our attitude and our love so that it can change the course of our

life.

Your enemies know they cannot touch your stuff, only your thoughts.

But sometimes that is enough to change everything.

Know that God has set a table for you, and your enemies are watching.

Don’t let them persuade you that the table of promises aren’t there.

They are there for you and they are coming to you. Keep your eyes

upon the promises of God and know that you can trust what He says.

Keep loving and saying the right words over the promises of God, keep

your attitude right and always forgive. Forgiveness is the key to

freedom. Which is something we will talk about at another time.

You have angels all around your table, protecting you and your stuff!!

Don’t give up!

Psalm 23 Part 5 – The Valley of the Shadow of Death

Psalm 23 Part 5
The Valley of the Shadow of Death

“Where lives change and where life can begin again”

I suppose I was rushing this chapter too fast. I wanted to go into the

anointing of oil before the Valley of the Shadow of Death. Lol!

So, let’s back up and take it a little slower.

Psalm 23:4 (NKJV)

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil; For You are with me;

Sometimes the circumstances in our lives seem large, dark, scary, and

unsolvable. The devil wants you to think just that.

Matthew 28:20 (GNT)

Jesus said, “And remember! I will be with you always, yes, even until the

end of the age.” … “And remember that I am always with you until the

end of time.”

The beauty of God is that He is there always …

He cries with us.

Psalm 56:8 (NLT)

8 You keep track of all my sorrows.

You have collected all my tears in your bottle.

You have recorded each one in your book.

He laughs with us.

Psalm 2:4 (GNT)

From his throne in heaven the Lord laughs and mocks their feeble

plans.

He fights with us.

Exodus 14:14 (NKJV)

14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

The fight that we fight is in our faith “walk”. We fight the good fight of

faith, knowing we win! The weapons of our warfare are not carnal or

natural, but mighty through God… (2 Corinthians 10:4)

And He empowers us!

Luke 10:19 (NKJV)

19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and

scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by

any means hurt you.

What is a shadow?

A black cloud, dark image, gloom, blight; threat

A shadow is something appearing real but is not. It is only a shadow of

the real thing. God used the word “shadow of death”, wanting you to

understand that Satan is trying to cause something to appear real, that

is not real at all. We go through moments that feel like “surely, I will

not make it through this one,” but God is there all along. As we trust

and fight the good fight of faith, we make it through one step at a time,

trusting in Him and knowing that this too shall pass, and I will make it

to the other side.

Most valleys are a representation of the lower places in our lives in the

Word. Mountain tops are the best of times in our life. But God said I

would be with you always.

Psalm 139:7-10 (NKJV)

7 Where can I go from Your Spirit?

Or where can I flee from Your presence?

8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there;

If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

9 If I take the wings of the morning,

And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

10 Even there Your hand shall lead me,

And Your right hand shall hold me.

The constant reassurance of God’s love and presence should give us all

the strength to stand and know we are winners in every battle in life.

Be encouraged today, even though your situation may look like the

“shadow of death”, fear no evil, because God is with you!
