Faith 101 – Part 4
“Faith is a Process” Faith and Patience
“Where lives change and where life can begin again”
With everything we do, there is a process. Nothing just happens. There are things
that we must put in place to make other things happen and then with time and
energy, they come into existence. Buying a home, having children, having a good
marriage are examples of things that take time and energy to bring about the
desired results. With anything that you want to be excellent and worth the wait, it
takes time. With time, it takes patience to wait.
James 1:3-4 (NKJV)
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have
its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
James 1:3-4 (AMPC)
3 Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out
endurance and steadfastness and patience.
4 But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a
thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no
defects], lacking in nothing.
Through our faith and waiting, God is at work in us perfecting us and
strengthening us for what comes ahead. The road doesn’t become easier, but it
does become easier to endure because of what we have endured. We learn our
Father so well, that we trust Him through the worst of times knowing that this is a
temporary bend in the road and all things are working together for our good.
What does patience look like?
First of all, patience doesn’t look like you standing there enduring silently with
composure. Patience looks like you standing there with your “sword”, the Word of
God, in your hand shouting, if need be, to the top of your lungs, with confidence
and assurance that your answer is on its way. Patience looks like dancing and
singing and showing the enemy of your soul that whatever you bring my way I will
rejoice and be glad because My God is faithful and true. It looks like whatever I
believe when I pray, I have it!
“Let patience have her perfect work in you, that you would be entire and wanting
nothing.” We all must remember that when all the shouting is done, we will be
better, stronger, more prosperous, and healthier than we have ever been.
Whenever training begins, there is pain, sweating, fatigue, anger, disappointment
in results, and all types of struggle. However, when the training is over, we know
that we are stronger and more equipped for the battle than before. And we only
get better with every session as we follow the rules of training. If we try to take an
easier route by sitting down on the job and complaining more than doing what
needs to be done, the results will be obvious. We will remain weak and we will
struggle through the hard times of our lives.
What are the rules?
· Reading and meditating upon the Word of God. Confessing the Word over
your situation. (Put the Word on it!)
· Rejoicing and meditating that God is moving in your circumstances. (Take
some time to laugh and smile. HaHaHaHa!!!)
· Keeping a consistent attitude of not complaining (The hardest one)
· Worship God every day! Allow God’s presence to fill your day.
· Not concentrating on the things that God is doing, but leaving it in His hands
and going on about your day.
Patience – the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without
getting angry or upset.
Let God have His perfect work in you! Be patient and know that He is God.
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
Remember it’s just a test! Your enemy wants to see if he can cause you to fold
and give up.
Let’s pass the test and show the devil what we are truly made of!
