Biography of Pastors Tommy and Lynette Roberts
Family and Background
Pastor Tommy is a U.S. Air Force veteran after 10 years of service. They were married in 1983 and have shared life and ministry for over 42 years. They are blessed with three children, TJ (Tommy Jr.), Dominique, and David. They cherish the memory of their beloved daughter, who went home to be with the Lord at the age of 18 in 2004. Today, they also rejoice in the gift of being grandparents to 6 wonderful grandchildren.
After 8 years of marriage, Tommy and Lynette were headed to divorce court, but God had another journey in mind.
A Story of Grace and Transformation
In December 1991, their marriage entered its most difficult season. But by the grace of God, while Tommy was watching an evangelist on television, he surrendered his life to Christ. God transformed him instantly. Though Pastor Lynette had been ready to leave, the Lord spoke to her heart, asking her to stay. The change she witnessed in her husband became the light of Christ shining in their home. Soon after, in February 1992, she too gave her heart to the Lord. From that point forward, they never looked back. God restored their marriage and their family, and they devoted their lives to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. Their testimony continues to inspire and encourage others today.

Discipleship remains central to their calling. At LifePointe, disciples are trained to be rooted and grounded in the Word of God. Their goal is to love people enough to preach, teach, and reach them with the uncompromised Word of the living God—throughout Iowa City and beyond
